Cultivation Objectives
This program aims to cultivate graduates who support the Party's fundamental principles and embrace comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. It serves the needs of regional economic and social development by providing students with a strong foundation in mathematics, natural sciences, mechanics, and mechanical engineering, as well as essential knowledge and skills in mechanical design, manufacturing, automation, and control. Students in this program will develop excellent learning abilities and professional competence. They will be prepared to engage in design, manufacturing, technical development, engineering applications, production management, and technical services in the field of mechanical engineering and related interdisciplinary areas. Graduates are expected to have strong practical skills, an innovative spirit, and high-quality applied capabilities.
Upon completion of approximately five years of practical training, students in this program are expected to achieve the following objectives:
1. Humanistic literacy: to fulfill and undertake the social obligations and responsibilities expected of engineers and technicians in the related fields of mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation, to take the initiative to improve and demonstrate their social service duties, social morality, humanistic and scientific literacy, and to carry out and implement engineering ethics in engineering practice as well as elements of the industry-related laws, environment, safety and sustainable development.
2. Engineering design: comprehensively apply mathematics and natural sciences, basic engineering theories and professional skills to design, develop, manufacture and manage electromechanical products of complex engineering systems such as mechanical equipment, automation equipment and electronic products in the context of multidisciplinary fields related to mechanical design, manufacturing and automation through analysis, judgment and comprehensive processing, and to propose and implement engineering solutions.
3. Engineering competence: Continuously track and learn the cutting-edge technologies in mechanical engineering and related fields, lead or join the R&D, service and management teams in mechanical engineering and related fields as a backbone and take the initiative to improve and demonstrate the ability to communicate in a multidisciplinary context as well as to work and communicate in a team under cross-cultural conditions.
4. Career development: Through continuing education or other learning channels, to take the initiative to cultivate lifelong learning ability, to take the initiative to expand their new knowledge and ability, to pursue new career opportunities, to adapt to the work tasks given by different environments, to be able to make contributions in different positions, and to obtain their own sustained development.
Characteristics
1. Focusing on mechanical design and manufacturing technology, integrating the foundation of the computer, electronic information, control and other disciplines as well as modern design methods and engineering applications, 3D printing, industrial robotics and intelligent manufacturing and other cutting-edge technologies. In accordance with the requirements of professional certification of engineering education, based on the concept of CDIO engineering education, construct the "Outcome based education (OBE)" application-oriented talent cultivation system.
2. Reconstruct the three-integrated curriculum system under the leadership of manufacturing high technology. Namely: the professional elective course adopts the combination of traditional professional courses and high-tech courses; the mechanical innovation design and manufacturing courses are combined with college students' mechanical innovation design competition, college students' engineering training comprehensive ability competition and other competitions; the professional core course adopts the combination of theoretical courses and centralized practice courses. At the same time, relying on Nanning University's Intelligent Manufacturing Research and Creation Centre and the cooperation platform of manufacturing industry and enterprises, the professional experiments and practical training teaching is expanded from laboratories and training rooms to innovation bases and enterprises, so as to cultivate the students' mechanical engineering practice ability, high-tech application ability and innovation and entrepreneurship ability in a multi-faceted, multi-channel and three-dimensional way.
