Introduction

The Financial Management program is a university-level characteristic program at Nanning University and has been enrolling students since 2014. In 2018, it was granted the authority to award a bachelor’s degree in management. In 2019, the Nanning University Institute of Applied Finance and Tax Economic Research was established. In 2020, the course "Fundamentals of Financial Management" was recognized as a first-class undergraduate course in the autonomous region. This program aims to cultivate applied financial management professionals who possess a strong political awareness, maintain integrity and practical professional ethics, have a solid foundation in the field, and possess strong interdisciplinary application abilities. Graduates are equipped to adapt to the changing environment of the new era and the development of information technology. The program has a duration of four years and grants a bachelor’s degree in management.

Cultivation Objectives

The program aims to cultivate specialized financial management professionals who uphold the Party's basic principles, possess comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills, and serve the economic and social development needs of the Beibu Gulf zone. Graduates will possess a solid foundation in economics, management, law, financial planning, and finance. They will have a systematic understanding of the fundamental principles of financial management, along with practical skills in financial planning, investment, financial analysis, and decision-making. They will be well-prepared to work as applied financial management professionals in enterprises, institutions, banks, and other financial institutions, engaging in accounting, fund operation, and management-related positions.

Characteristics

The Financial Management program is rooted in the talent demands of the Beibu Gulf region and closely aligned with the school's development strategy and talent development goals. It highlights regional characteristics and aims to cultivate exceptional financial planners through its curriculum. The research project titled "Research on the Excellent Financial Management Talent Development Model of Applied Undergraduate Institutions Based on the OBE Concept" has been approved by the Guangxi Higher Education Undergraduate Teaching Reform Project. The program offers courses such as Python Financial Analysis and Visualization, RPA Financial Robots, Big Data Financial Analysis, Asset Evaluation, and Investment Project Evaluation. These courses enhance the application of information technology in financial management and are complemented by practical training courses. The program promotes the comprehensive development of students in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics. It also emphasizes the cultivation of students' sense of responsibility in serving society, their innovative spirit in exploration, and their problem-solving abilities.

Teaching Staff

The Financial Management program has a total of 16 full-time faculty members. Among them, there are 2 professors, 6 associate professors or other senior-level positions, and 8 lecturers. Among these faculty members, 14 hold master’s degrees, accounting for 87.5% of the total, and there are 9 dual-qualified teachers. Additionally, 60% of the full-time faculty have practical experience working in the financial sector, bringing rich expertise in corporate finance and accounting, as well as teaching experience to the program.

Employment and Innovation

Graduates of this program are mainly employed in enterprises, institutions, government departments, and accounting firms, engaging in financial management, accounting, and related economic management work. The initial employment rate of the program has remained above 91% over the past three years, and it is highly valued by employers.

There is a strong emphasis on cultivating students' innovative and entrepreneurial abilities, resulting in outstanding achievements in various competitions. The program has been awarded the first prize in the National Private University Financial and Tax Skills Competition and placed third in the undergraduate category of the National Higher Education Financial Intelligence Competition in Guangxi. Moreover, it has won a national bronze award in the 7th "Chuangqingchun" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, as well as multiple national awards in the National College Business Elite Challenge, including two first prizes, four second prizes, and one third prize. It has also received several awards in the "Internet+" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
