Cultivation Objectives
This program aims to cultivate students who uphold the Party's fundamental principles, adapt to social and economic development needs, and achieve comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Students will acquire a solid foundation in mathematics and natural sciences, as well as knowledge of the internet system and protocols, wireless sensing, and embedded systems. They will also possess skills in developing IoT mobile applications, sensor applications, computer network communication, and other related technologies. With strong engineering practical abilities and an innovative spirit, they will be capable of analyzing, designing, developing, testing, using, and maintaining IoT systems. Furthermore, they will have the ability to continuously learn and apply new technologies in their field. These graduates will be well-prepared to work in various industries related to the Internet of Things, making them highly skilled applied talents in this field.
Courses
Database Principles, Computer Composition Principles, Mobile Application Development, Embedded Application Development, Wireless Sensor Networks, Sensor Technology and Applications, IoT Solution Design and Implementation, IoT Cloud Service Application Development, Proximity Recognition Technology, and Network Security.
Characteristics
The Internet of Things Engineering program closely aligns with the goal of cultivating applied talents and explores new models, pathways, and processes for applied talent cultivation. This has effectively promoted the ecological development of the program and improved the quality of talent cultivation, resulting in significant characteristic advantages.
1. Prominent ecological characteristics in program development
Through the collaboration with Beijing Huatec Information Technology CO., LTD in the "industry collaboration in education", our program is jointly built through the "dual-subject, five-fold integration" mechanism. This partnership has created a new educational community that integrates talent cultivation, scientific research, technological innovation, social services, and student entrepreneurship, which has formed a new ecological development in the program.
2. Clear and effective pathways of applied talent cultivation
We have established the interdisciplinary concept and goals of "five integration" and implemented a deep integration strategy of "ten shared" between industry and education. We have also explored new pathways for talent cultivation that connect the program with industrial sectors, align courses with real job positions, and integrate classroom learning with work scenarios. The results have been significant.
3. Innovative processes of Applied talent cultivation
We have innovated the "dual-threaded talent development" process, incorporating vocational competency courses to ensure continuous professional and vocational education for students over the four-year program. By implementing new measures, we have effectively integrated industry collaboration throughout the entire talent cultivation process. This has resulted in outstanding quality of professional talents.
Teaching Staff
There are 14 professional teachers in the Faculty of Internet of Things Engineering, of which 57.14 % are professional engineers from enterprises. The "mixed" professional teaching team composed of university teachers and engineers from Beijing Huatec provides a strong guarantee for the introduction of new-generation information technology, course development, engineering practice education, and the quality improvement of the cultivation of applied talents.
Associate Professor Wang Xiaowei, the director of the teaching and research department, has previously led one key project for undergraduate teaching reform in higher education in Guangxi, two scientific research projects in Guangxi universities, two collaborative projects between industry and academia for talent cultivation supported by the Ministry of Education, one scientific research project for technological breakthroughs in the Yongning District of Nanning City, and two external research projects. He has also participated in more than 20 research and educational reform projects at various levels. He has published over 20 research papers and authored two textbooks.
