Cultivation Objectives
This program aims to cultivate students who uphold the Party's basic line, promote comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills, and serve the needs of regional economic and social development. Students will have a sound understanding of the theoretical knowledge required in civil engineering, engineering economics, and engineering management. They will possess a high level of scientific and cultural literacy, as well as professional competence and abilities. They will have the correct outlook on life and values, basic management skills, and a spirit of cooperation. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have received basic training as engineers and will be prepared to work in engineering construction, engineering cost consulting, and real estate, as well as relevant government departments and organizations. They will be capable of engaging in technical and managerial work related to engineering decision analysis, economic evaluation, engineering measurement and valuation, engineering cost control, comprehensive cost management and consulting throughout the construction process, engineering contract management, engineering auditing, and engineering cost appraisal. These high-quality applied talents will possess strong practical abilities and an innovative spirit.
Core Courses
Engineering Economics, Engineering Contract Management, Construction Measurement and Valuation, Installation Measurement and Valuation, Engineering Cost Management, Engineering Project Management, BIM Engineering Cost Application, Construction Materials.
Characteristics
1. Integrating Engineering and Management, Emphasizing Application.
Drawing upon the establishment of the Civil Engineering and Water Conservancy master's program, our aim is to cultivate interdisciplinary talents. We adhere to the talent development concept of integrating engineering and management, emphasizing the combination of engineering construction technology and engineering cost management. Our program provides a knowledge reservoir for students who plan to acquire professional qualifications such as Construction Engineer, Cost Engineer, and Consulting Engineer in the future. We focus on nurturing high-quality applied talents who possess skills in management, precise measurement, accurate cost estimation, and a comprehensive understanding of construction practices.
2. Integration of Education and Innovation, Fusion of Competition and Instruction
We implement teaching focused on core competencies in engineering cost. By enhancing practical training, continuously optimizing teaching materials, introducing new technologies such as BIM (Building Information Modeling) and prefabrication, and innovating teaching methods, our curriculum and teaching content meet industry demands. We have built an integrated curriculum system that encompasses core competencies, ensuring a seamless transition from graduation to employment and enhancing graduates' competitiveness. We emphasize the development of innovation skills, self-directed learning abilities, and lifelong learning capabilities. We guide students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, as well as subject competitions, to promote learning through competition, drive improvements based on competition, and integrate competition into teaching. This approach cultivates scientific research and innovation capabilities and enhances students' interest in and ability for self-directed learning.
3. University-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education
We have established a university-enterprise collaborative education model by partnering with companies such as Guangxi Urban-rural Planning Design Institute, Guangxi Construction Group Co., Ltd., and Guangxi Huotianxin Engineering Management Consulting Co., Ltd. Together, we have founded the "Nanning University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center for Engineering Cost" to cultivate talents. This center introduces real projects, with guidance provided by both industry mentors and university faculty, to ensure that students receive training that meets the demands of future job positions during their time at the university.
Teaching Staff
This program is supported by a highly experienced faculty with strong industry backgrounds, notable research capabilities, and a commitment to serving the local community. The faculty team consists of 1 professor, 7 associate professors, and 4 engineers, with 70% of the teachers being "double-qualified" instructors. The leading expert in the field is Professor Chen Weiqing, who was previously a professor and master's supervisor at Guangxi University. He is currently a professor of Surveying Engineering at the Faculty of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Guangxi University. Professor Chen has published over 80 academic papers in national journals, authored or co-authored 12 textbooks and scientific monographs, and has led or participated in over 10 provincial-level research and teaching projects, as well as numerous other projects. He has been awarded 8 provincial-level teaching and research achievement awards, 2 national-level academic association research achievement awards, and 6 provincial-level outstanding paper awards from academic societies. To further strengthen students' applied abilities, the program has also invited experts from Guangxi Huotianxin Engineering Management Consulting Co., Ltd. to provide part-time teaching.
Employment
Upon graduation, students will be able to work in enterprises and institutions in the field of construction engineering, engineering cost consultancy, real estate, and related government departments. They can be engaged in engineering decision analysis and economic evaluation, engineering measurement and pricing, engineering cost control, cost management and consulting in the whole process of engineering construction, engineering contract management, engineering audit, engineering cost appraisal, and other aspects of technology and management.
