Cultivation Objectives
The Civil Engineering program is divided into three specialized directions: Building Engineering, Road and Bridge Engineering, and Geotechnical and Underground Engineering. The program adheres to the principles of cultivating students' moral character and upholding the Party's basic line. It aims to foster comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Students are expected to possess good humanistic and scientific qualities, a strong sense of social responsibility, and professional ethics. They will be equipped to serve the needs of regional economic and social development. The program ensures that students acquire the essential theories, knowledge, and skills necessary for civil engineering. They will develop preliminary capabilities in engineering design, experimentation, construction, management, and research. Upon graduation, they will be qualified to work in engineering design, construction, consulting, and management within the field of building engineering. These graduates will be high-quality applied talents with strong practical abilities and an innovative spirit.

Theoretical Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, Structural Mechanics, Geotechnics, Fundamentals of Concrete Structures, Fundamentals of Steel Structures, Engineering Economics, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering Surveying, CAD Software Applications, Foundation Engineering (Geotechnical), Fundamentals of Concrete Structures, Fundamentals of Steel Structures, Engineering Economics and Project Management, Civil Engineering Materials, Fundamentals of BIM, and BIM Applications.
Core Courses
1. Building Engineering: concrete structure design, steel structure design, foundation engineering, civil engineering construction technology.
2. Geotechnical and Underground Engineering: basic geology, rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering investigation, underground structure design, slope and pit engineering.
3. Road and Bridge Engineering: bridge hydrology, road survey and design, roadbed and pavement engineering, bridge engineering, highway engineering budget, bridge wind and seismic design, foundation engineering, highway engineering construction technology.
Cultivation Mode and Characteristics
1. "Four Realities and Five Collaborations" University-Enterprise Synergistic Education Mode
We have established off-campus "synergistic education bases" with 15 large construction enterprises, including Guangxi first construction engineering group co., LTD., Guangxi Construction Engineering Group No.2 Construction Engineering Co, Ltd., Guangxi Construction Engineering Group No.4 Construction Engineering Co, Ltd., Guangxi Huaxin Design Co., Ltd., Guangxi Urban-rural Planning Design Institute, and Guangxi Hualan Geotechnical Engineering Co., Ltd. Additionally, we have formed "school-enterprise partnerships" with three companies, namely Guangxi Huaxin Design Co., Ltd., Guangxi Hualan Geotechnical Engineering Co., Ltd., and Guangxi Zhongjian Architectural Design Co., Ltd. Through real-world projects that offer a "real environment, real learning, and real practice" experience, we have implemented the "Five Partnerships Collaborations" school-enterprise synergistic education model. It involves collaboration between mentors, teachers, apprentices, students, and peers. This mode aligns curriculum design with real working domains, aligns research topics with work scenarios, connects practical experience with real projects, and aligns assessment with industry standards. Overall, it aims to promote the cultivation of applied talents.
2. "Competition-education integration" talent cultivation mode
BIM and new technologies are introduced into the professional courses to carry out the "Competition and Education Integration" talent cultivation mode, to build a four-level disciplinary competition organization and cultivation system, to promote learning through competition, and to cultivate students' ability to solve complex engineering problems and innovation ability. The program aims to cultivate students' ability to solve complex engineering problems and innovation ability by promoting learning through competitions.
3. Objectives and Characteristics of master's degree construction program in Civil Engineering and Water Conservancy
The main research directions of the master's degree program in civil engineering and water conservancy are green materials and applications, and structural reinforcement technology and safety assessment. These two research directions have been declared as master's degree construction projects, which have been included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the faculty. In the next five years, we will build up an academic team with a reasonable knowledge structure, age structure, and professional and technical title structure, with active academic thinking, able to continuously carry out high-level applied teaching and research, and good at combining new theories, new technologies, and new methods in the field of this discipline with engineering practice, so as to make this discipline become the base for cultivating high-level applied talents in Guangxi, and lay a solid foundation for obtaining the authorization of master's degree in civil engineering and water conservancy to lay a solid foundation.
Teaching Staff
This program is supported by a highly experienced faculty with strong industry backgrounds and notable capabilities in research and local service. The faculty team consists of 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 3 Ph.D. holders, and 3 supervisors for master's students at Guangxi University, with over 80% of them being "double-qualified" teachers. The faculty members have received recognition for their teaching abilities and achievements, including 2 awards for Guangxi's first-class undergraduate courses, 1 first prize and 2-second prizes in the Guangxi Young Teachers Lecture Competition, and a third prize in the senior group of the Guangxi University Teachers' Teaching Innovation Competition. At the university level, they have won 4 first prizes in the Young Teachers Teaching Competition, 3 first prizes in the Teaching Design Competition, and 2 third prizes in the Teaching Innovation Competition. The program also includes three research teams and two research institutes. Through participation in competitions and scientific research, teachers have significantly improved their teaching abilities and research levels, which has also influenced and improved the teaching and research capabilities of other teachers. To enhance students' practical abilities, we have established off-campus training bases in collaboration with over twenty large enterprises such as Guangxi Construction Engineering Group and Country Garden. We have also brought in companies such as the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Guangdong Province and Guangxi Fangjiaoshi Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. onto campus. Additionally, we have established collaborative platforms with companies like China Zhongsheng Design Corporation and Huotianxin Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., forming school-enterprise partnerships that allow teachers to participate in actual engineering projects and improve their practical engineering skills.

Upon graduation, students can engage in engineering design, construction, consultancy and management in the field of architectural engineering, or pursue further studies in civil engineering related fields.
