On the morning of November 15th, the 12th Track and Field Sports Meet of Nanning University and the Launching Ceremony of the 2024 Winter Long-Distance Run kicked off at the track-and-field ground. University leaders including Liu Biao, Chen Xiongzhang, Li Taoshen, Wang Ningzhang, and Gong Ji, along with heads of various units, all athletes and referees, attended the event. The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice President Wang Ningzhang.
In his hosting speech, Vice President Wang Ningzhang stated, “General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that a strong sports sector contributes to a strong China, and the prosperity of the nation drives the development of sports. Our university has achieved remarkable results in various sports competitions this year. This sports meet is a comprehensive test of the sports skills of all teachers and students, the achievements of mass sports work, and the competitive awareness; it is also a demonstration of the spiritual outlook of teachers and students.” He also emphasized the important role of sports in cultivating students’ comprehensive quality and promoting their physical and mental health, encouraging teachers and students to show their true selves, surpass their limits, write their youth with sweat, and create brilliance through hard work.
Accompanied by the athletes’ march, the National Flag Guard and representative teams of each college passed the rostrum in turn. Dressed in uniform clothing, holding creative banners, and shouting loud slogans, they demonstrated the unique style and spiritual outlook of their respective colleges. From the emotional thinking of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the rigorous and realistic attitude of Science and Engineering, the colorful art of Art and Design, to the vigorous posture of athletes, each phalanx was the best interpretation of youthful vitality. With their distinctive features, they showed the wisdom, feelings, and demeanor of teachers and students of Nanning University. A solemn flag-raising ceremony was held at the opening ceremony, where all teachers and students sang the national anthem to express their patriotic enthusiasm. The university flag and the sports meet flag also rose slowly amid the university song.
Bathed in the rays of the morning sun, the opening ceremony of the campus sports meet officially began with the majestic national anthem. All teachers and students gathered together, singing the national anthem to express their sincere patriotic passion and witnessing the launch of this sports event. Amid the university song “Bright Future, Full of Sunshine”, the university flag and the sports meet flag rose slowly and fluttered high above Nanning University.
At the opening ceremony, the wonderful cultural performances added boundless vitality to the scene. The vivid traditional lion dance, featuring movements such as pouncing, falling, tumbling, rolling, jumping, and blinking, won waves of applause. The dynamic street dance, the soft-yet-strong Tai Chi, and the energetic cheer-leading performance reflected the youthful vitality and vigorous spirit of the students of Nanning University in the new era. Each program received bursts of applause and cheers from the teachers and students present. Their light dance moves and bright smiles showed the youthful vitality and infinite possibilities of contemporary college students.
After the cultural performances, Party Secretary Liu Biao announced the official launch of the 2024 Winter Long-Distance Run and fired the starting gun for the campus-circling running. As the starting signal rang out, teachers and students, led by the university flag, sprinted forward like arrows off the bowstring. They set off from the track-and-field ground and ran around the campus along the carefully designed route. Their vigorous and neat steps, and the rising and falling shouts, fully demonstrated the passionate fighting spirit and beautiful aspirations of the teachers and students of Nanning University for the future. The entire long-distance running team stretched for more than one kilometer, becoming a beautiful scenic spot.
This sports meet was held from November 15th to 16th, lasting for two days. During these two days, teachers and students sweated and chased their dreams on this passionate and dream-filled sports field.
