In line with the spirit of thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and actively responding to the national initiative of "National Reading", the Library of Nanning University successfully hosted its 3rd "Love Reading, Read Good Books" Reading Marathon Challenge of 2024 from October 21 to November 10, 2024, at the designated competition area in the South Study Room on the 4th floor of the library.
The event aimed to ignite reading enthusiasm among all faculty and students, cultivate a reading habit, create a strong academic atmosphere, enhance their cultural literacy and spirit of inquiry, witness the power of collective reading, contribute to the university's development, and lend impetus to the realization of the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Diverse Themes Attract Active Participation
This challenge focused on themes such as "Books Recommended by the President", classic masterpieces, and revolutionary stories, attracting more than 160 reading enthusiasts to participate actively. During the 21-day competition, participants devoted themselves to reading with full concentration, experiencing a contest of knowledge and willpower. They not only made detailed reading plans and chose books that were moderately challenging and aligned with their interests but also mastered efficient reading skills in the hope of achieving good results.
Strong Academic Atmosphere and Profound Insights
The venue was filled with a strong academic atmosphere and a spirited ambiance. Participants immersed themselves in the books they had selected. With focused eyes, deep thinking, and unwavering perseverance, they embodied the true meaning of "Love Reading, Read Good Books". Many participants shared that the challenge helped them deeply feel the significance and value of reading. One participant said with emotion, "Reading has broadened my horizons, enriched my inner world, and made me more determined to pursue my life path." Another expressed, "This challenge has made me understand that reading is not only for acquiring knowledge but also for improving my thinking quality and life realm."
Orderly Competition and Fruitful Results
During the competition, on-site staff were rigorous and responsible, ensuring its fairness, impartiality, and orderliness. After 21 days of intense effort, the event concluded successfully. Participants read a total of 1,053 books, and 105 students successfully completed the challenge. Finally, participants took group photos with the books they had read to record this beautiful moment full of wisdom and scholarly charm. At the same time, they further consolidated their reading achievements and improved themselves by sharing reading insights and writing experience summaries.
The successful 21-day Reading Marathon Challenge provided a feast of knowledge and a spiritual uplift for Nanning University's faculty and students, rekindling their love and pursuit of reading. It showcased the transformative power of reading and awakened students' desire for and respect for knowledge. In the future, we look forward to more faculty and students joining the ranks of reading and jointly contributing to fostering a campus reading atmosphere. Meanwhile, we also eagerly anticipate the arrival of the next Reading Marathon Challenge to share the beauty of knowledge again!
