Nanning University at China-ASEAN Expo: Successful Hosting and International Partnerships

During the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (hereinafter collectively referred to as the CAEXPO & Summit), Nanning University actively responded to the work arrangements of the Nanning Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. The university participated comprehensively in various foreign affairs receptions, exhibition displays, and international cooperation exchange activities. These efforts yielded fruitful results, fully demonstrating the institution's commitment to serving the local region and its mission of operating with an open, ASEAN-oriented approach.

1. Meticulous Execution of Foreign Affairs Reception and International Conference Facilitation

Our university dispatched seven faculty members distinguished by their exceptional linguistic abilities and professional expertise to assume comprehensive responsibilities for the reception and service support of international guests. The delegation expertly hosted representatives from various government and commercial missions, encompassing the Vietnamese provinces of Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh, Udomsay Province of Laos, the Malaysian cities of Johor Bahru and Ipoh, and the Brunei-Guangxi Chamber of Commerce.

Their efforts were pivotal in ensuring the guests' smooth participation in key events such as the "2025 Nanning-Hanoi Economic Corridor & Nanning Friendship Cities along the Belt and Road Exchange Conference," the "2025 Guangxi International Sister Cities Promotion and Exchange," and the "China (Nanning)-ASEAN AI Scenario Application Matchmaking Exchange." The team also facilitated official meetings and working dinners. The exceptional quality of service received high praise from the international delegates.

2. Boosting the Digital Economy Exhibit: A Showcase of Industry-Academia Collaboration Strength

Partnered with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Nanning University provided high-tech exhibits for the Nanning Weining Group's exhibition booth at the CAEXPO. The booth featured a Machine Vision Comprehensive Innovation Kit developed by the "Nanning University-Huawei Digital Technology Industry Institute," digital human videos, and an intelligent beverage-mixing workstation powered by an industrial robot from the School of Intelligent Manufacturing. Throughout the event, a dedicated team of seven faculty members and students from the university, working alongside three engineers from Huawei, jointly managed exhibit explanations, technical demonstrations, and multilingual translation. Their efforts made the booth a hotspot for technological interaction, significantly enhancing its impact and public visibility.

3. Deepening ASEAN Educational Ties with Multiple Inter-University Agreements

During the CAEXPO, the university proactively advanced cooperation with ASEAN universities, holding productive talks and reaching consensus with Vietnam National University of Art Education, Chiang Mai University of Thailand, and Hanoi University of Industry.

On September 15, a five-member delegation led by the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council of Vietnam National University of Art Education visited our university. Accompanied by Gong Ji, the Vice President of Nanning University, the delegation toured the campus, gaining a firsthand impression of our academic environment and cultural vibrancy.

The tour was followed by a high-level meeting, attended by Liu Biao, the Party Secretary, and Gong Ji, the Vice, along with deans of relevant secondary colleges and heads of functional departments.

The talks were constructive and in-depth, focusing on specific areas such as faculty and student exchanges, joint art workshops, collaborative creative projects, and co-hosted international art exhibitions and academic conferences. A high level of consensus was reached on the direction of cooperation, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which establishes a solid foundation for launching a series of high-quality and substantive exchange programs in the fields of design and art education.

At the invitation of our university, delegations from Chiang Mai University of Thailand, led by Vice President, Pitipong Yodmongkol, and from Hanoi University of Industry, led by Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Nga, visited our institution on September 18. They were respectively hosted by the College of Business and the College of Digital Economics. That afternoon, representatives from both universities joined President Li Dongxue of Nanning University in attending the "2025 Nanning-Hanoi Economic Corridor & Nanning Friendship Cities along the Belt and Road Exchange Conference," Witnessed by government officials and distinguished guests from both sides, President Li Dongxue and Vice President Pitipong Yodmongkol signed the "Cooperative Agreement on Bachelor’s–Master’s Articulation Program between Nanning University and Chiang Mai University." Additionally, President Li and Prof. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Nga signed the "Cooperative Agreement on Joint Bachelor’s–Master’s Program between Nanning University and Hanoi University of Industry." These collaborations focus on disciplines such as business, finance, and digital economy, aiming to establish an efficient and seamless international education pathway that bridges undergraduate and master’s studies. The initiatives are dedicated to cultivating high-caliber economic talents with both professional expertise and a deep understanding of bilateral cultures, thereby contributing to the China–ASEAN Economic Corridor.

4. Hosting International Training Programs: Sharing Experience of Transportation Development

On September 16, the "Seminar on Economic Corridor Building and Connectivity Cooperation ", organized by the Ministry of Commerce and co-hosted by Southwest Jiaotong University and the Academy of International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce, was held at our university. The program brought together 27 transportation officials from seven countries, including Kenya, Brazil, and South Africa, etc.. Through specialized lectures and field visits, the College of Traffic and Transportation of our university presented China's advanced achievements in urban rail transit and high-speed railway technologies to the international delegates. This initiative has established a platform for international professional exchange and cooperation in the field of transportation.

5. Contributing to the "Digital Nanning" Initiative: Professor Li Jianwei Appointed as Nanning Municipal Think Tank Expert

Professor Li Jianwei, a full-time faculty member of the College of Digital Economics and Director of the Digital Economy Research Institute at our university, attended the "China (Nanning)-ASEAN AI Scenario Application Matchmaking Exchange." upon the invitation of the Development Research Center of the Nanning Municipal People's Government. Comrade Wei Jiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Nanning Municipal Party Committee, Head of the United Front Work Department, and Vice Mayor, presented Professor Li with the letter of appointment as a consulting expert for the Digital Nanning Group of the Nanning Municipal Expert Advisory Committee. This appointment fully acknowledges her professional expertise in the field of digital economy and her think tank support for the development of Nanning's digital economy.
