Introduction
Logistics Engineering is a high-quality program offered at Nanning University, which started enrolling students in 2016. The program has two directions: Supply Chain and International Logistics. Currently, there are 10 full-time teachers, including 1 professor, 3 associate professors, and 2 junior associate professors. All teachers hold a postgraduate degree or above, accounting for 100% of the staff, and 70% of them have industry backgrounds. In 2017, the university was honored with the "Golden Pegasus Award," a prestigious award in the Chinese logistics industry presented jointly by the China Communications and Transportation Association, China Logistics City Alliance, and Logistics Times. It was recognized as the "Most Popular Institution in the Logistics Industry". Furthermore, in the rankings conducted by the Scientific Education Evaluation Network, the Logistics Engineering program was ranked 20th in the country.
This program has established collaborative platforms with renowned companies such as JD Group, Suning.COMCO., LTD., SHENZHEN T-OCEAN LOGISTICS CO., LTD., Shenzhen Eternal Asia Supply Chain Co., Ltd., Beijing Logis Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Best Express Network Technology Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch, and Guangxi Jixiang ZTO Express Co., Ltd. Together with these enterprises, the university has developed a talent cultivation system based on "dual mainline + multiple stages," a curriculum system based on "business processes + technology management," a practical training system based on "industry-driven + virtual-reality integration," and a fusion system between academia and enterprises based on "collaborative education + innovation and entrepreneurship".
Cultivation Objectives
This program aims to cultivate graduates who uphold the Party's basic line, meet the needs of economic and social development, and achieve comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Students will acquire foundational knowledge in engineering and management, as well as a systematic understanding of theories and methods in the field of logistics. They will develop essential skills in logistics system planning and design, supply chain solutions design, warehouse and inventory control, transportation optimization design and control, and logistics automation and intelligence. Students of this program possess strong engineering practical skills and an innovative spirit in fields such as logistics technology application and logistics engineering management. They are capable of engaging in work related to logistics technology application and optimization, logistics engineering project planning and management, and supply chain solution design in logistics, transportation, production, trade, and other enterprises and institutions. These graduates are not only highly skilled professionals, but also possess qualities such as good character, employability, entrepreneurial abilities, a solid foundation for further studies, and the potential for long-term career growth, namely high-quality applied talents.
Courses
Modern Logistics, Engineering Drawing, Systems Engineering, Fundamentals of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Operations Research, Transportation and Distribution, Warehousing and Inventory Control, Logistics Information Technology, Modern Logistics Equipment, Logistics System Planning and Design, Logistics System Modelling and Simulation, Packaging Design and Application, Cold Chain Logistics Design and Implementation, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Technology.
Characteristics
The program is characterized by "two main lines, two grips, and four systems", that is, with logistics technology application and logistics engineering management as the main line of talent cultivation, and with reform of applied curriculum and integration of industry and education as the grips, the program constructs the talent cultivation system of "two main lines + multi-stage", the curriculum system of "business process + technology management", the practical training system of "industry-driven + virtual-real integration", and the university-enterprise integration system of "collaborative education + innovation and entrepreneurship".
This program is based in Nanning, with a focus on serving Guangxi and radiating the Pan-Beibu Gulf zone. It aims to contribute to the local economic and social development as well as industrial growth, while also serving the ASEAN region and the Belt and Road Initiative. It seizes the development opportunities and talent demands brought about by initiatives such as the Development Plan for the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration, the Overall Plan for the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the construction of Nanning National Logistics Hub. It emphasizes the cultivation of talents in international logistics and supply chain management. Through collaborations with logistics industry enterprises, real business processes, and techniques are integrated into teaching practices. This approach strengthens the training of essential methods and capabilities in logistics business planning, design, and operational management. The training also focuses on supply chain solution development and logistics engineering project planning, analysis, design, and implementation. Furthermore, the program promotes a combination of innovation and entrepreneurship education, ideological and political education, and professional education. It expands the scope of knowledge to include smart logistics, aiming to cultivate high-quality applied talents who can contribute to the development of the regional economy and society.
Employment Opportunities
The employment prospects of graduates of this program are favorable, with about 50% of them being employed in well-known domestic logistics enterprises and listed companies such as JD, Suning, SF, and so on. Graduates are mainly engaged in logistics, transport, production, trade, and other enterprises and social groups, engaged in the application and optimization of logistics technology, logistics project planning and management, supply chain program design, international logistics operation, and management work, as well as logistics field of the highway, railway, aviation, ports, warehousing and other departments engaged in related technical management.
