Introduction
The New Media Arts program at Nanning University is an important component of the "Cultural Industry Professional Cluster" within the university's "Six Major Clusters of Applied Undergraduate Programs for Local Industries". It is a newly established undergraduate program in 2021, in line with the framework of new liberal arts disciplines. The program combines computer technology, digital technology, and network technology to engage in artistic design creation and practice, representing an emerging field that combines technology and artistic design. The program is dedicated to cultivating high-quality and innovative applied talents in art and design who possess a wide range of artistic creative abilities, creative thinking, experimental spirit, mastery of various materials, and cross-media language skills.
Cultivation Objectives
This program aims to cultivate individuals who uphold the party's fundamental principles, promote comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills, and adapt to the needs of social and economic development. Students will acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge, methods, practical skills, and the corresponding design thinking, expression, communication, and management skills in the field of New Media Arts. They will possess strong abilities in professional learning, project practice, innovative thinking, solid professional foundations, and high aesthetic judgment. They will be highly qualified applied professionals in fields such as New Media Arts, digital film and television, interactive design, and digital display design, enabling them to engage in the design, creation, research, and development of New Media Arts in various enterprises and institutions.
Teaching Staff
This program currently has one professor, three associate professors, and two teaching assistants. Over 67% of full-time teachers hold a master's degree or higher. The teachers possess rich teaching experience, practical experience, industry resources, and notable titles in related fields. They are members of the China Television Artists Association, council members of the Guangxi Artists Association and the Guangxi Oil Painting Association, former art editors and directors at Guangxi TV Station, and members of the Guangxi Science and Technology Expert Database.
Characteristics
The New Media Arts program is built upon modern technology, particularly digital elements, while also emphasizing the aesthetic beauty of the art itself. It combines practicality and artistic expression, providing aesthetic pleasure and room for imagination. The course, characterized by aesthetic culture, integrates the study, understanding, application, and expression of aesthetic culture throughout the teaching process. Leveraging the geographical advantages of Guangxi and Nanning, the teaching of the New Media Arts program is intertwined with cultural communication, the interconnection of cultural values, and the establishment of an innovative system that serves the research on cultural and ecological diversification of urban-rural integration in Guangxi, cultural tourism brand operation and communication in Guangxi, and cultural technology and modern service in Guangxi.
Teaching and Research Achievements
Teachers actively engage in scientific research and have achieved abundant outcomes: they have won 2 first prizes and 2 second prizes in the Guangxi Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards. They have also secured one research project approval through the Guangxi Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Research Project. In the China National "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, they received two silver awards in the national division and multiple gold awards in the Guangxi division. Additionally, they have won several national gold awards in the National College Student Advertising Art Competition. They have secured one project approval from the Yongning District Science and Technology Bureau. Furthermore, they have published four monographs, two textbooks, and dozens of research papers.
