The team of teachers and students from College of Art and Design of Nanning University successfully stood out among the numerous participants in the 8th Milan Design Week-China Collegiate Design Competition & Exhibition, with their unique creative perspectives, superb design skills, and profound exploration of regional culture. Six national prizes were awarded, including two first prizes, one second prize and three third prizes. In addition, there was also an Outstanding Organization Award. These achievements reflected that Nanning University paid great attention to the cultivation of teachers’ and students’ professional practice ability.

Milan Design Week-China Collegiate Design Competition & Exhibition, an important event in the field of design education in China, is jointly initiated and organized by China Education Association For International Exchange and China Association of Higher Education. The competition aims to reflect the current status and achievements of the teaching level of China’s design discipline in the context of the new era. The competition covered 1,311 colleges and universities in 2024 with 118,000 participants. The competition received a total of more than 154,000 submissions from 29 divisions, with tracks including special, public interest, propositional and non-propositional.

From July 27th to 29th, the representatives of teachers and students of the College of Art and Design went to Tongji University to participate in the award ceremony and the seminar on the reform of design practice teaching in colleges and universities. This event not only recognized the efforts of the teachers and students of Nanning University, but also provided them with a valuable opportunity to communicate with the elite of the national design education field.

During the two-day discussion on practice teaching, teachers and students actively participated in the meeting and discussed the latest trend of design education and the direction of practice teaching reform with peers.Teachers and students of College of Art and Design further broadened their horizons and  enhanced innovative and practical ability through the collision of ideas and experience sharing.
