Cultivation Objectives

This program aims to cultivate high-quality applied talents who adhere to the basic Party line, adapt to social and economic development needs, and pursue comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Students will acquire fundamental theories, knowledge, and skills in quality management, quality control, and quality certification. They will possess strong professional knowledge and skills in metrology, standards, certification, and inspection. Graduates of this program will be capable of engaging in quality planning, design, testing, analysis, improvement, auditing, and supervision work in the field of food. They will possess strong practical capabilities, an innovative spirit, and a combination of management and technical skills.


Courses

Based on the growth pattern of quality talents and the logical system of industry development, this program has reconstructed a modular curriculum system, with the main focus on cultivating quality management capabilities and expanding application abilities in food quality inspection. The curriculum system is organized into four levels: public foundation, professional foundation, quality enhancement, and comprehensive application. Throughout the teaching process, vocational professionalism is integrated to meet the knowledge and skills requirements of regional quality professionals who need a combination of management and technical expertise.


The core courses of this program include management, metrology techniques and management, standardization engineering, quality certification, quality statistical techniques, quality inspection techniques, measurement system analysis, and quality analysis and improvement.


Characteristics

This program is the first undergraduate program established through collaboration between Nanning University and the former Guangxi Quality Supervision Bureau. It was created to meet the strategic needs of the national "Belt and Road Initiative" and the "Great Power of Quality" strategy. It was designed to address the shortage of regional quality talents and support the development of the China-ASEAN high-tech cluster for inspection, testing, and certification. It is the only program of its kind in Guangxi. In 2017, this program became a key major for private universities in Guangxi, and in 2019, it was selected as a first-class undergraduate program in Guangxi.


As a jointly run program by the school and the local government, since its establishment, both parties have shared resources and complemented each other's strengths, providing strong support for practical teaching in the program. The former Guangxi Quality Supervision Bureau, Nanning University, relevant departments, and industry enterprises have invested more than 10 million yuan in purchasing professional instruments and equipment. The program now has laboratories such as the "Modern Quality Technology and Management Laboratory," "Modern Sensor Technology Laboratory," "Standardized Microbiology Laboratory," and "Food Quality Control Laboratory." These laboratories have distinct features and are at the forefront compared to similar labs in the country.


This program has received strong support from the former Guangxi Quality Supervision Bureau. Cooperation bases and teaching internship bases have been established in Guangxi Inspection Institute, Institute of Metrology and Testing, Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute, and Institute of Standards and Technology, with equipment investment exceeding 100 million yuan. The program has also established cooperative relationships with more than ten enterprises, including GUANGXI BOCE TEST TECHNICAL SERVICES CO. LTD., Guangxi Centre Testing International Group Co., Ltd., Guangzhou GRG Metrology & Test Co., Ltd., Guangxi Langsheng Food Technology Co., Ltd., and Royal Group Co., Ltd. These partnerships provide students with excellent practical platforms for enterprise cognition internships, on-site teaching, course practices, and graduation internships.


The program has a quality association and regularly organizes activities that combine learning with fun, such as the "Metrology Knowledge Competition," "Standardization Day Exhibition," and "Quality Knowledge Popular Science Lectures," enriching students' extracurricular learning experiences. During their practical experiences, students have achieved significant accomplishments. They have won 1 provincial-level gold award, 6 silver awards, and 17 bronze awards in the China International "Internet+" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. In other competitions such as the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition and the National College Student Mechanical Innovation Design Competition, they have won 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 2 third prizes.


Teaching Staff

This program has a well-qualified and experienced teaching team, with a strong research capability. It is led by professors and associate professors, with mid-career and young teachers as the backbone. The teaching team is known for its loyalty to the Party's educational cause and dedication to its profession, demonstrating a solid strength. The program has also invited 12 industry experts, forming a mixed team led by experts in standards, metrology, testing, inspection, and certification, and with backbone teachers specializing in quality, machinery, electrical engineering, and food.


There are 14 full-time teachers in the program, with 8 of them being below the age of 40. They include 11 senior teachers and above, 10 master's degree holders, and 2 Ph.D. holders. Among them, there are two experts with Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, one innovation and entrepreneurship mentor of the Ministry of Education's "10,000 Talents Program," two experts in the evaluation of government quality awards, one expert in laboratory qualification certification, two Certified Quality Professional (CQP) recognized by American society, three Certified Quality Engineers, two experts in food production permit verification, and one expert in WTO/TBT foreign notification evaluation appointed by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China.


Employment

After graduation, students can seek employment opportunities in various government quality supervision units at all levels, customs, epidemic prevention, environmental protection, and other quality-related organizations and research institutes. They can work in quality management departments of enterprises, where they can engage in quality planning, quality design, quality improvement, quality testing, quality data statistical analysis, metrology testing and management, quality technical supervision, and administrative law enforcement, as well as supervision and management tasks. They can also pursue careers in teaching and scientific research related to quality management at secondary and higher vocational and technical schools.
